Morbid, yes. But honest…also yes.

And I cannot stop thinking about how so many people spend their entire lives waiting.

Waiting for the right time.
Waiting until they have more money.
Waiting until the kids are older.
Waiting until life calms down.
Waiting until they feel more confident.
Waiting until they feel “ready.”

And somewhere along the way, they slowly abandon themselves without even realizing it.

That thought wrecks my heart.

Because I think a lot of people are being realistic straight into regret.

The older I get, the more I realize how quickly life moves. One minute you’re saying “someday,” and the next you’re wondering where the years went.

And I think midlife wakes a lot of us up to that.

Not because life is over.
But because we suddenly realize how precious it actually is.

I think women especially have always been taught to prioritize being practical over being fully alive.

Be responsible.
Be realistic.
Be careful.
Don’t ask for too much.
Don’t take up too much space.
Don’t change too much.
Don’t want too much.

But what if being “realistic” is exactly what’s keeping so many people stuck?

What if some of the things we call realism are actually just fear in disguise?

Fear of failure.
Fear of judgment.
Fear of disappointing people.
Fear of looking foolish.
Fear of changing.
Fear of finally becoming who we really are.

Because here’s what I’m starting to believe:

The people who change their lives usually start by sounding unrealistic.

The people who travel the world.
Start businesses.
Move across the country.
Reinvent themselves at 50.
Leave relationships that no longer fit.
Choose joy.
Choose healing.
Choose authenticity.
Choose a life that actually feels aligned.

At one point, all of those people probably sounded unrealistic too.

But maybe unrealistic isn’t reckless.

Maybe unrealistic is honest.

Maybe unrealistic is finally admitting what you truly want instead of continuing to perform a version of life that looks acceptable but feels disconnected from your soul.

I think that’s why this message has been hitting me so deeply lately.

Because I don’t want to simply survive my life. I don’t want to go through the motions. I don’t want to simply exist.

I want to fully LIVE it.

I want to notice the sunshine.
Take the trip.
Laugh harder.
Dream bigger.
Become more myself.
Choose perspective intentionally.
Romanticize ordinary moments.
Stop waiting for permission.
Stop postponing joy.

And I want other women to know they can too.

You are not too old.
It is not too late.
Midlife is not the ending of your story.

Sometimes it’s the wake-up call.

Sometimes it’s the moment you finally realize:
you still have time to become fully yourself.

So maybe this is your reminder today to stop asking:
“Is this realistic?”

And start asking:
“Does this make me feel alive?”

Because you get ONE life. Just one.

And it’s not over.

I have spent a LOT of years filtering myself.

Filtering what I said.
Filtering what I shared.
Filtering how I showed up.

And if I’m really honest, a lot of it came from feeling like I wasn’t good enough in many areas of life.

Not smart enough.
Not confident enough.

Not good enough at makeup.
Not good enough with fashion.
Not stylish enough.
Not polished enough.

So instead of just being myself, I filtered everything.

I second-guessed what I said.
I worried about how I looked.
I wondered what people would think.

And a lot of the time, I chose the safer version of me.

The quieter version.
The more careful version.

Because it felt easier to stay safe than to risk showing up fully as myself.

But lately something has shifted.

Maybe it’s getting older. (Turning 50 this year…holy sheet)
Maybe it’s the inner work I’ve been doing.
Maybe it’s realizing just how fast life actually goes.

Or maybe it’s simply the realization that this life we’re living… is meant to be enjoyed.

Whatever it is, I’ve decided something important.

I don’t want to filter my life anymore.

I want to enjoy it.

I want to take goofy photos and not worry about the angle or whether I look perfect.

I want to try new makeup and figure out what actually works for my skin.

I want to experiment with fashion and learn what fits my body instead of hiding behind the same safe outfits I’ve worn for years. (Hello leggings and hoodies. I see you.)

I want to take pictures of sunshine and flowers and random little moments throughout my day just because they make me smile.

I want to take care of myself in ways that feel good – skincare, health, mindset, all of it.

I want to read books that stretch my thinking.

I want to learn new hobbies and try things I’ve never tried before.

I want to travel with my family and see new places together.

And sometimes I want to travel by myself, too.

I want to see more of the world.

Experience new things.

Collect memories instead of just rushing through the days.

And I’m totally not an expert in any of it.

I’m not a makeup artist.
I’m not a fashion expert.
I’m not a skincare professional.

I’m just a girl, learning.

Learning what works for me.

Learning how to enjoy life more.

Learning how to stop overthinking every little thing.

Learning how to take up space in my own life without feeling like I have to apologize for it.

Learning how to laugh at myself.

Learning how to stop waiting for some future version of myself to start enjoying the life I already have.

Because the truth is, the life we’re living right now?

It’s the one we get.

And the more I allow myself to just be me, the more fun life becomes.

I notice the sunshine more.

I notice the birds, the flowers, the light coming through the windows.

I laugh more easily.

I take pictures of random things that make me happy.

I let myself be playful.

I let myself be curious.

I let myself enjoy things without feeling like I need to justify it.

And maybe that’s part of growing older.

You start realizing that life isn’t meant to be lived perfectly.

It’s meant to be lived fully.

So if you’re in a season of rediscovering yourself too, trying new things, letting go of old expectations, figuring things out as you go, I hope you give yourself permission to enjoy it.

You don’t have to have everything figured out.

You don’t have to be perfect.

You don’t have to be an expert.

You can just be a girl learning, too.

And I truly think that might be one of the most beautiful ways to live.

Sunshine is a mindset.
Live fully today.
Believe in the possibilities for tomorrow.

While I’m totally HERE for the sunny, springtime weather, this morning is like one of those little moments I want to remember.

Up until a few minutes ago, there wasn’t a trace of sunshine in the sky. Just gray clouds, blowing snow, and that quiet stillness that only comes with a late winter storm.

As excited as we are about spring, yesterday the boys and I were secretly hoping and praying and crossing our fingers for one last snow day.

And somehow…

we got it.

As of 9:30 this morning they are still snoring away, completely unaware that they got exactly what they wished for.

Meanwhile, I’ve been working for a bit, getting meal prep done for the week, and just enjoying the slow rhythm of a house that hasn’t quite woken up yet.

There’s something about mornings like this that feels a little magical.

No rushing.
No alarms.
No racing out the door.

Just quiet, cozy, ordinary life.

Most of the time, we think that the best moments in life are supposed to be big ones.

The vacations.
The celebrations.
The milestones.

But sometimes the most beautiful moments look exactly like this:

A snowy morning.
Sleeping kids.
A warm house.
A quiet kitchen.

Nothing spectacular happening.

And yet everything feels totally full.

That’s one of the things I’ve been realizing more and more lately… so much of life’s joy lives inside these ordinary little pockets of time.

You just have to slow down long enough to notice them.

And maybe that’s what Sunshine is a Mindset really means.

It doesn’t mean every day is perfect.
It doesn’t mean life never feels messy or complicated or overwhelming.

It simply means choosing to notice the good when it’s there.

Even on cold, gray, snowy mornings.
